It is with a heavy heart that 90 Minutes must report, there has been a murder. A brutal massacre took place in the Netherlands on Saturday afternoon, and one that simply cannot be ignored.
Dutch champions Ajax went to the stomping ground of fellow Eredivisie outfit VVV-Venlo, beat them up for no reason, and then buried them in their back garden. The visitors won 13-0.
Thirteen. One over 12, and one under 14. 13. Unlucky for some, eh VVV-Venlo?
Ajax got off to a good start on Saturday, taking the lead after 12 minutes. “Don’t worry guys, we’re still in it!” That minor setback for the hosts was doubled five minutes later, when Lassina Traore got in on the act.
“Well, no need to panic, 2-0 is a dangerous lead, I hear.”
The game was put to bed just after the half-hour mark thanks to Trevor, and Dusan Tadic made it four just before the stroke of half-time. Imagine this team.
“Right guys, it’s damage limitation time, okay? Stay focused, don’t make any stupid tackles, don’t try to be a hero. Just go out there, stay solid, and maybe try to win the second half. It is very important that we Don’t lose our heads”

Seven minutes later, VVV-Venlo were down to ten men, following a straight red card for Christian Kim. In fairness Christian, I probably would have done the exact same thing, man.
Now a man lighter, it was always going to be difficult.
“Time to get together, boys!”
Instead, they drifted apart. Second half goals by *large intake of breath* Trevor, Antony, Jürgen Eklinkamp, Daley Blind, Trevor again, Huntelaar X2, Lesandro Martinez and Trevor Again An embarrassing 13-goal victory for Ajax, sending their goal difference to +21 after just six matches.

As for our successful heroes in this story, VVV-Venlo are still sitting comfortably in tenth place in the table, although their -13 goal difference could see them at a disadvantage in the latter stages of the season…
“We will never discuss this incident again.”
