Andrea Pirlo gives the latest on Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala ahead of the Spezia clash.

Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will travel with the squad for the club’s match against Spezia after recovering from Covid-19.

The 35-year-old forward tested positive for the virus while on international duty with Portugal, and was eventually confirmed negative after 19 days of self-isolation.

The high-profile layoff has seen Ronaldo miss four games for Juve, who have managed just one win during his absence – most recently going down 2-0 to Lionel Messi’s Barcelona in the Champions League.

Speaking to reporters, Pirlo further elaborated on Ronaldo’s availability, saying that La Vecchia Signora will aim to revive their disappointing Serie A campaign against Spezia on Sunday.

“I have [Ronaldo] The second sweep came back negative and he trained individually this morning,” Pirlo said.

“He will be with the team. I am not sure he will play from the start. The important thing is to have him. He has trained at home, it is very important that we take him with us.”

Ronaldo is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes in Liguria, with Juventus looking at a number of alternatives, Alvaro Morata set to be a regular starter for the Turin club this season, and Paulo Dybala back after recovering from a muscle strain. Joining the team. hurt

Amid questions about a new deal for Dybala, who has just two years left on his current contract, Pirlo insisted to reporters that the Argentine’s exclusion from the squad was purely on fitness grounds.

“it is. [Dybala’s previous absence] Just a physical question,” Pirlo confirmed. “I’ve always said he’s not at 100 percent. The first time you come back you do well, the second game is more tiring. He has to find his rhythm, not think about the voices around his renewal but just do good.”
