Barcelona are in contact with Wales Sarsfield over the availability of Thiago Almada, who has caused quite a stir across Europe this season.
At just 19, the midfielder/forward/everything is close to 50 first-team appearances for the Argentinian outfit, and now the club’s manager has revealed the Spanish giants are in touch to discuss a move.

Almada is under contract with Wales until 2023, but with half of Europe keeping a close eye on the prodigy, his future is likely to lie away from his homeland.
“I know that Barcelona have made a request for Almada within the technical secretariat, but we know that he is only 19 years old and has to continue to mature,” Cavallero told Crack Deportivo via TNT Sports. “If there is an irresistible offer for the player and the club, we will probably consider it.”
A Wales board member also recently weighed in on the player’s future, claiming that Italian clubs have made inquiries to go along with rumors of interest from Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.
“There’s no way to stop it,” the board member was quoted as saying by ESPN. “Of all the offers seen in the media, add one from the local market and two from Italy.

“We’re going to wait for the market to open up so we know what’s really going on and who’s asking, and we’re going to be as serious at the negotiating table as we have been since this administration began.”
This season, Almada has scored four goals and registered an assist in 22 Superliga outings, featuring in a variety of positions over that period. He has operated from both flanks as a center forward in central midfield as well as in an attacking midfield role. Argentina’s versatility has played a key role in keeping Europe on red alert.
