Eric Dier served a 4-game ban following the incident against Norwich in March.

Eric Dier has been banned for four games and fined £40,000 by the Football Association following Tottenham Hotspur’s FA Cup defeat by Norwich at the start of March.

The England international was caught on camera climbing advertising hoardings before entering the stands and confronting a supporter at the end of the match, sparking chaos and scandalous scenes.

Dier was charged with misconduct in April, and on Wednesday morning, the FA confirmed the 26-year-old will be banned for four games, meaning Tottenham will miss all but one of their remaining matches this season. So it will be without its star.

A statement released by the FA confirmed that Dier’s actions were deemed ‘threatening’, and warned the midfielder about his future behaviour.

“Eric Dyer has been suspended for four matches with immediate effect, fined £40,000 and warned about his future conduct after breaching FA Rule E3.

“The Tottenham Hotspur FC player admitted that his actions at the end of the FA Cup fixture against Norwich City FC on 04 March 2020 were wrong but denied that he had made threats.

“An independent regulatory commission later found Eric Dyer’s actions threatening.”

Dier will now miss Spurs’ crucial run-in as they continue their quest for European football, and his suspension leaves coach Jose Mourinho without the England star against Bournemouth, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Leicester City. Will be left for sports.

The former Sporting man will be available for the final game of the season, however, when the north Londoners travel to Crystal Palace for a crucial clash in their Champions League ambitions.

Dier has been a big part of Mourinho’s Spurs side since the start of the year, standing at the heart of his defense and making 18 appearances during the campaign.
