Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Man Utd potentially recalling Imad Diallo from his current loan at Sunderland.
Emad has been in exceptional form in the Championship this season, scoring six goals for Sunderland and leading the Black Cats into a surprise play-off run.
Because of that form, the 20-year-old has been heavily linked with a possible recall from Manchester United during the January window to add some much-needed depth to the forward line.
When asked about the option of an early recall for Emad, Red Devils manager Ten Hague told the press:
“We consider everything. As long as it is strengthening the squad.
“But at the same time, I have a little reservation about it because I don’t want to stop the process. [making] There’s been really good progress, so I’m happy with that.
“I also know, they need experience, young players. When we decide. [for him] To come back, he has to be a player who can be a starting XI, can compete for a starting XI. [at a] At least, a lot of sports to come in and make an impact.”
A brilliant loan spell at Sunderland is exactly what Emad needed after a disappointing loan spell at Rangers during the second half of last season. The Ivorian struggled in the SPFL but settled in well in the English second division, with 90 minutes resident Sunderland fan Michael Graham describing Imad as ‘the best in the Championship’.
