Manchester United manager Erik ten Hague has faced questions over whether Christian Eriksen will play again this season.
The Dane arrived at Old Trafford on a free transfer from Brentford in the summer of 2022, and after some early struggles established himself as a key midfielder alongside Casemiro.
His season was affected by an ankle injury in January’s FA Cup win over Reading following a foul challenge from Andy Carroll.
United had initially said they expected Eriksen to return at the end of April or early May depending on his progress, but were still heavily booted when he left for the Carabao Cup celebrations at Wembley a fortnight ago. After being seen playing, fans became concerned that he might be on it. edge for longer.
After United’s 4-1 win over Real Betis in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night, Ten Hag was asked if Eriksen would play again this season.
“I think he will definitely play,” he said. “But I can’t give any expectations right now, but I think his progress in rehab is good. It’s going according to plan, so we’ll see for sure. But not before. [March] International break.”
Ten Hague was then asked if he kept Eriksen in the group and, with team talk, replied: “”Yes, he is. But of course, his main focus at the moment is to get back as soon as possible because we need all the players.”
