Fred has pledged his future to Man Utd amid Galatasaray links.

Manchester United midfielder Fred has denied he could leave the club to join Galatasaray in the wake of Donnie van de Beek’s £40million arrival from Ajax late last month, insisting are that they want to stay and expect stiff competition for places.

Fred started 23 consecutive Premier League games last season, but made just one XI during ‘Project Restart’ following Paul Pogba’s return to fitness and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s unwillingness to tinker with his side. Added to

Despite the subsequent signing of Van de Beek, a completely different type of player to the Brazilian, it led to claims that Fred could be shown the door. Rumors intensified when Galatasaray were linked and Fred’s Instagram account briefly ‘liked’ a post about a possible move to Turkey.

“I want to stay here — that’s my wish,” he told the latest issue of Four Four Two. “I don’t want to leave. As I’ve always said, I want to be an important player and win trophies for this club.

“[Van de Beek’s arrival] It means we are getting stronger and that is good for everyone at United.

“We need more players for this season because it will be even more demanding: the calendar is full and we need a strong squad to compete for every title. When you play at a big club There will always be competition – I’m used to it. It’s been that way since day one at United.

United are still determined to bring in more new faces ahead of the new season, which kicks off a week later for them as a result of their extended involvement in the Europa League in August. Jadon Sancho remains the main target and the club remains confident of a deal.

United are also looking for a left-back, centre-back and striker, although it is unlikely all three positions will be filled before the October deadline, apart from Sancho.
