Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Darwin Nunez has a ‘chance’ to feature for Liverpool in Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Real Madrid.
Nunez scored the opening goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend but left the game early with a shoulder injury, and with a short change ahead of the visit of Real, he will be back in Tuesday’s game. Involvement is doubtful.
Asked for an update during Monday’s press conference, Klopp admitted that no decision had been made yet.
“There is a chance. [Nunez plays]Klopp revealed.
“We have to see how he can handle the pain. When we know that, we have to make a decision.”
Tuesday’s match will be a repeat of last season’s Champions League final, with Real winning 1-0 thanks to a Vinicius Junior strike and Thibaut Courtois’ goalkeeping heroics.
“We could have won that game but we didn’t,” admitted Klopp. “We come into it with more experience.
“Before that we played in their training ground and empty stadiums. We made them work hard. These are different teams now. That’s history.
“They are different games. One of the biggest clubs in the world. We played this final in Paris and I haven’t seen it since this weekend. Now I know why I haven’t seen it!”
On facing Real, Klopp added: “It’s Real Madrid. We can’t play this game without respect. They are absolutely world class, it’s a well-set team and that’s why it’s very difficult. But That doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

“I don’t think you can scare this team. All the chances we had, we had to save them. The thing that let us down a little bit was the final. We weren’t as adventurous.
“The real ones are always super, super competitive and super hard to beat. But it makes perfect sense to try anyway.”
