Kai Havertz to open talks with Bayer Leverkusen over joining Chelsea

Chelsea target Kai Huertz is expected to formally open talks with Bayer Leverkusen officials over his future this weekend, when the Bundesliga club return to pre-season training.

Chelsea are already believed to be favorites to land the Germany star, who is believed to have made up his mind on a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Havertz has previously said publicly that he feels ‘ready to take a big step’, while Leverkusen chief executive Fernando Caro has admitted that the club will not stand in his way if he wants to move on. Will be.

Huertz has already been told that Leverkusen have been asked to sell him specifically to Chelsea and now that he is due to report for pre-season duty on Thursday it is time to submit the request.

German reporter Christian Falk has claimed that Havertz wants to hold talks with Leverkusen when training starts and will then ask if the club is willing to deal with Chelsea.

Chelsea are already busy preparing for next season and will boast an attacking line-up full of quality so far after sealing marquee signings Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.

But defensive reinforcements are still needed as Chelsea have conceded the most goals of any club in the Premier League’s top half this season.

The Blues are looking for a new left-back and a new goalkeeper, while there have also been inquiries about Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar, who is likely to be a better long-term investment than Napoli star Kalido, who is only available at 25. Colbelly.

Chelsea have also been tipped to sell existing players to raise more money for transfers, with senior midfielders Jorginho and N’Golo Kante among those who could be cashed in.
