The two also met in the 2018 final – with Real emerging victorious 3-1 – and again in 2021 – with Liverpool again losing 3-1 on aggregate at the quarter-final stage. .
Elsewhere, Bayern Munich are drawn against Paris Saint-Germain in another blockbuster clash, while Manchester City take on RB Leipzig.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham face AC Milan after topping the group stage, and Graham Potter’s Chelsea have been handed a tough-looking tie with Borussia Dortmund.
Eintracht Frankfurt will face Serie A leaders SSC Napoli, Club Brugge will face Benfica, and Inter will face Porto.
The Champions League 2022/23 last 16 first legs are scheduled to be played on February 14, 15, 21 and 22.
The return legs will be played on March 7, 8, 14 and 15.
2022/23 Champions League Important Dates
The quarter-final and semi-final draws will be held on March 17. The identity of the semi-finalists will not be known at the time of the draw as the quarter-finals will be held at the end of April.
Quarter-finals will be played on April 11, 12, 18 and 19, semi-finals on May 9, 10, 16 and 17. The final will be played on June 10 at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
