Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has confirmed that the player who tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday has now tested negative – with a third test now due.
The Canaries confirmed on Saturday that one of their players has tested positive for COVID-19, and will therefore self-isolate for a period of seven days. The news comes just a day after the Norwich man featured in a friendly against Tottenham, and less than a week before the Premier League resumes.

There were concerns and questions about whether all Norwich and Tottenham players would need to self-isolate as a result of positive tests, but this was not required. Premier League research has shown that 98% of ‘close contact’ lasted less than five minutes per match this season – well below the stipulated 15 minute limit.
However, Norwich sporting director Weber has now provided an update on the player, stating that he has now tested negative for COVID-19. There are several possible explanations for this, but the players will now take the third Test. Despite the current confusion, Weber has revealed that the player is fine.
“Fortunately, the player in question is fine. There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s actually had an independent test with our club doctor that came back negative, which is confusing,” Weber told Beautiful. told The Game Podcast.

“So now he has to have a third test to see if it comes back negative and to check if he has any antibodies, which might prove that he had it in the past but now He doesn’t have it.
“It’s all very scientific, isn’t it? But the important thing is that he’s healthy and so is the rest of the group. But it’s a good wake-up call that even with all these measures one of us can still get it. It’s really scary.”
