Tyrell Malacia backs Cody Gakpo for Man Utd transfer

Tyrrell Malacia has insisted Holland team-mate Cody Gakpo is ‘good enough’ to play at the highest level amid interest from Manchester United.

90min recently revealed that Gakpo’s performances at the World Cup helped convince the Manchester United hierarchy that the Dutchman is open to a move to the Premier League. The Red Devils are in desperate need of a striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Gekpo’s form at the tournament in Qatar showing he certainly fits the bill.

Gakpo carried his domestic form with PSV Eindhoven into the World Cup with three goals in four games at the tournament – the 23-year-old has scored 21 goals in just 14 Eredivisie games this season.

Speaking to The Athletic after the game, Malacia was asked if he believed Gakpo was ready to move to a club like Manchester United, and he replied emphatically: “He’s good enough for the top, that I have no doubt.”
